Morwell Bowling Club has been a proud part of the Gippsland community since 1913, growing from a modest three-rink green into one of the region’s most loved venues for lawn bowls, hospitality and social connection.
In 2024, a devastating fire destroyed much of the main clubhouse and impacted the function centre, along with more than 100 years of irreplaceable memorabilia and photos. Thanks to the incredible staff, determination of its members and the support of the local community, the club quickly adapted and created a temporary venue beneath two large marquees. Now reopened and operating ‘under the dome’, Morwell Bowling Club is once again a vibrant hub, welcoming everyone from seasoned bowlers, newcomers giving barefoot bowls a try, and locals simply looking
for a great meal in a friendly, relaxed setting.
Construction of the new venue is underway and will follow the previous footprint while introducing a few upgrades such as a larger kitchen, high efficiency mechanical systems and fully automated lighting and audio-visual technology to raise the bar on quality and functionality throughout the space.
With covered greens allowing for all-weather play, t he club caters to both competitive pennant bowlers and those after a more social game. Regular events like Twilight Bowls invite locals of all ages to get involved and enjoy the game.
Beyond the greens, the club continues to deliver on its reputation as a hospitality venue. The bistro is open daily for lunch and dinner, offering a menu packed with favourites and weekly specials—including the much-loved Tuesday Steak Night.
